I have been a die hard mini bag girl for as long as I remember. Until a certain large and ridiculously heavy bag came in my life called the Paddington. I knew it was too big for me, I knew it was going to cost me a fortune at the chiropractor but I didn’t care. I HAD TO HAVE IT. Blame Phoebe! I throw all reason out the window when it comes to Phoebe (still do). But after a season of carrying that damn Paddington with the 5lb lock, I put it away and went back to my smaller bags. Not mini-sized as I gave birth around that time and needed room to hold all of my baby’s things (30cm/12″ birkins and Chanel totes). But the minute he was able to carry his own backpack, back to the mini bags I went. I’ve collected dozens of mini bags since college (from Hermes, Chanel to Gucci and LV) and am so excited to see the trend shifting to my side of tiny again! I mean, why do I need 10 lip-glosses, change of shoes/clothes, scarf and entire make up counter of things with me at all times? Don’t even get me started on the stupid rewards cards from grocery stores and yogurt shops weighing down my super sized Hermes wallet.
I have now downsized to a Nancy Gonzalez crocodile credit holder as my wallet (I rarely carry cash and if I do, it’s only enough to tuck into the back of my iPhone case), one lip gloss and one concealer, all of which fits in the tiniest of bags. It is so liberating! I don’t care or panic anymore that I forgot my CVS rewards card (they keep your phone number on file anyway). Though I do miss carrying locks of my son’s hair and his birth certificate (don’t ask, it’s just my thing). But mini doesn’t mean it doesn’t hold anything. The minis of late are actually smartly designed and some expandable. Lucky for you, we’ve found the best of the mini bags on sale for the season. What do I consider mini?!
